Our Founding Heritage

From North Sumatra Highlands to Global Container Terminals

Martira Global was born out of a fundamental recognition: while Indonesia produces some of the most sought-after volcanic microclimates in specialty coffee, traditional export intermediaries frequently obscured origin traceability, compromised moisture control through permeable jute bags, and depressed farmer revenues.

In response, our founders—combining background in agricultural agronomy and licensed Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) sensory grading—established our central processing dry mill in Medan. By eliminating speculative collector layers and installing state-of-the-art optical sorters, we created a streamlined corridor between Gayo Highlands, Lake Toba, Java Preanger, and overseas roasteries.

Engineering & Milling

Milling Infrastructure & Sorting Technology

State-of-the-art facilities engineered to eliminate physical defects and stabilize water activity.

01

Vibratory Size Screening

Multi-deck mechanical shaking screens calibrate green beans precisely into Screen 16, 17, 18, and 19+ jumbo fractions, ensuring uniform heat transfer during roasting.

02

Gravimetric Density De-stoning

Air-float gravity tables separate immature, insect-damaged, and low-density hollow beans, guaranteeing that only dense, flavor-packed seeds proceed to export bags.

03

Optical Bichromatic Sorting

High-speed optical cameras scan every single bean falling through pneumatic ejection chutes, removing black, sour, yellow, and fungus-damaged beans with microsecond precision.

Sensory Verification

Licensed Q-Grader Sensory Laboratory in Medan

No container leaves our dry mills without thorough cupping under official Specialty Coffee Association protocols. Our temperature-controlled cupping lab in Medan evaluates:

  • ✓ Roast Sample Profile: Agtron/SCA color standard (58-63 ground / 63 whole bean).
  • ✓ Cup Attributes: Fragrance, aroma, flavor, aftertaste, acidity, body, balance, clean cup, and sweetness.
  • ✓ Moisture Testing: Sinar / Dickey-John calibrated dielectric moisture meters (±0.1% accuracy).
  • ✓ Sample Library: 18-month reference sample retention for every dispatched FCL container.

Environmental Stewardship

Preserving Sumatra’s Rainforest Biodiversity

All Martira Global arabica lots are cultivated under dense shade-tree canopies (Erythrina, Albizia, and native citrus) that provide vital wildlife corridors bordering Gunung Leuser National Park. We strictly prohibit chemical defoliants, protect water catchment basins near washing stations, and recycle coffee pulp into organic compost for smallholders.

Supply Chain Precision

A disciplined 5-stage export procedure engineered for cargo consistency.

1 Cherry Harvest

Hand-picked red cherries at 20-22° Brix sugar level from GPS mapped smallholder plots.

2 Wet Hulling / Wash

De-pulping and parchment fermentation with strict pH tracking and raised bed sun drying.

3 Dry Milling & QC

Optical sorting, moisture testing (11.5%), and Q-Grader cupping approval at Medan lab.

4 GrainPro Sealing

Bagged in 60kg jute with hermetic multi-layer liners and desiccants for sea transit.

5 Port Dispatch

Container loading at Belawan/Priok with full phytosanitary, ICO, and EUDR DDR documentation.
